The West Police Precinct opens in September 2011 with Mayor Carl Dean and Chief of Police Steve Anderson speaking at the opening ceremonies.  The new precinct will replace the old precinct which was much smaller and did not have a community room.  Mayor Carl Dean explained "this is a great day for both the police department and the families of West Nashville" and Chief Anderson said "the new, larger West Police Precinct facility provides a world of relief to officers and detectives who, for the past several years, have worked out of a cramped and woefully outdated building that simply was too small to evolve with the continued growth of our community policing concept.  For the first time in the 48-year history of the Metro police department, the citizens of West Nashville now have their own truly full-service police building, complete with a community room to host neighborhood meetings and events."
